TNT Logistics raises £86,000 for United Nation’s World Food Programme

Employees of TNT Logistics UK have raised £86,000 for the World Food Programme, the food-aid arm of the United Nations. The fund-raising is part of a five-year partnership launched last December, involving TNT Logistics' parent company, TPG and the World Food Programme (WFP). The partnership is committed to a single common goal - fighting world hunger.
TNT Logistics, headquartered at Atherstone, raised the money through a variety of fund-raising events, including football matches, cycle rides, dress-down days, raffles and quiz nights. £3,700 was also raised from the TNT Logistics' Christmas raffle, with prizes donated by suppliers and customers.
Neil Crossthwaite, Managing Director, TNT Logistics says: "We are very grateful for the support all of our employees have given to the World Food Programme during this year. WFP will use the funds raised to support their Global School Feeding Campaign. This campaign gives hope to millions of less privileged children in our world by providing them with a meal in school. The promise of food attracts children to school and boosts enrolment. Our fund-raising will help change the lives of children at WFP school-feeding projects in developing countries."
However, fund-raising hasn't stopped at the company's raffle. In an attempt to boost funds, TNT Logistics is holding a ‘Moving the World' day on Friday, 19 December. Employees at sites across the UK will be dressing down for the charity and participating in fund-raising activities.
"Our fund-raising has only just started. There is still much work to be done in the fight against global hunger," says Mr Crossthwaite.
A number of volunteers are also spending time working directly for World Food Programme. Next year, John McElroy, a senior driver from TNT Logistics, is spending three months in the Gambia as part of a group of TPG employees working to help a local community.
TPG's partnership with World Food Programme has become the cornerstone of TPG's commitment to global social responsibility on a corporate scale.
