TNT Logistics UK wins BRAKE Road Safety awards

TNT Logistics UK's 'Serious about Road Safety' culture has been awarded two coveted road safety awards at the 2004 BRAKE Awards for Excellence.BRAKE is the UK road safety charity dedicated to preventing deaths and injuries on roads through awareness-raising campaigns, including Road Safety Week and the provision of educational resources.
At a presentation evening attended by business people from the transport and logistics industry, Mary Williams OBE, Founder and President of BRAKE presented TNT Logistics with an award for 'Novice Driver Training'. Andy Jenkins, Manager Operations Training also received the 'Road Risk Manager of the Year' Award.
The judges praised TNT Logistics' Driver Training Centre and the company's approach to training young drivers to be professional road users.
Presenting Andy Jenkins with his well-deserved award Mary Williams commended his dedication: "We are always impressed with Andy's enthusiasm for everything related to road safety."
Neil Crossthwaite, Managing Director, TNT Logistics UK, spoke proudly of the awards success. "I am delighted that once again BRAKE has recognised our commitment to road safety. The awards reflect highly on the ongoing efforts of Andy Jenkins and our training and operations teams.
In 2003 TNT Logistics received BRAKE's Commitment to Road Safety' award and Andy Jenkins was highly commended in the 'Road Risk Manager of the Year' category.
TNT Logistics' commitment to road safety includes an annual driver of the year competition in which the winner drives away in a new Volkswagen Golf. The company also has its own DSA accredited driver training centre incorporating a young driver scheme. Transport conferences, safe driving campaigns and community road safety events are also included in TNT Logistics' 'Serious about Road Safety' campaign.
TNT Logistics UK employes 8,500 people and utilises a fleet of 5,500 vehicles from more than 150 operating sites nationwide.
