Peak condition for fund-raising

09 July 2003 - 09:07 CET

Last weekend more than 40 TNT Logistics employees raised over £5,000 for charity by completing the Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours.

Fuelled by food and drink supplies donated by their clients and suppliers including Golden Wonder, Del Monte, Allied Bakeries, Twinings, Wrigleys, Whitworths, Britvic, Vendepac and Toms Confectionery, the team climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon.

Their mission was to raise money for the TNT Logistics chosen charity 'Moving the World'. This charity was launched last December, involving TNT Logistics' parent company TPG and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). It is aimed at a single common goal ? fighting world hunger.

The hike brings the total raised so far by TNT Logistics UK to a massive £35,000. The Atherstone based employees are now looking forward to raising more funds through a bike ride on the TNT sponsored Northern Warwickshire Cycleway in September.

WFP's mission is to use food to meet emergency needs, to support economic and social development and to provide the logistics support necessary to deliver the food. The partnership with TPG/TNT focuses on five project Transparency and Accountability, School Feeding Support and Private Sector Fundraising.
