03 June 2010 - 15:55 CET

Milan, Italy, 03 June 2010 - CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has signed a six year agreement with Messaggerie Libri (MELI), Italy's most important distributor of books.

This contract win will see CEVA managing the publishing warehouse and logistics for the launch of new titles in all national bookshops resupplying distribution centers in Milan and Rome, as well as undertaking basic accessory tasks such as kitting, labeling, wrapping in cellophane and the management of returns. Each year CEVA will process over 30 million items for Messaggeri Libri.

Alessandro Baldeschi, Managing Director of Messaggerie Libri, said: "We have confirmed CEVA as our logistics partner because it is the clear leader in Italy and we can rely on over 20 years of experience. For both publishers and distributors, logistics today represents a key area in which to identify opportunities for optimizing costs and at the same time improving the service given at the point of sale. Leaving the logistics in CEVA's capable hands, we have the chance to focus further on our core business."

Massimo Berti, CEVA's Global Sector Director of Publishing said: "We are proud that Messaggerie Libri has chosen to continue its collaboration with CEVA. This is a further step on the road to the consolidation of our leadership in the Italian publishing sector. Through our highly specialized services and ability to manage considerable volumes of items (tens of millions a year), CEVA is able to guarantee an excellent service at competitive rates, characterized by integrated processes across the various phases of the supply chain."
