In-night sets sights on leading position in automotive sector

27 May 2003 - 09:16 CET

The In-night Group, a TPG (http://www.tpg.com) subsidiary specialising in Europe-wide spare parts distribution, has recently launched national and international projects in the automotive sector. The Austrian market leader In-night Express (http://www.in-night.at) now serves the 21 branches of Birner GmbH, a leading automotive supplier based in Perchtoldsdorf, Vienna.

The project makes use of the proven Night Express Service of In-night. Consignments are dispatched overnight by no later than 7.00 am and are at the disposal of the Birner employees before the start of business. The benefits are obvious: preparations can get underway before the branch opens and customers will receive items they ordered the day before early in the morning. In-night Key Account Manager Franz Hartmann said of the order volume, ‘We will eventually be transporting up to 300 consignments a day through this partnership'.

From Bremen to Austria
On an international logistics scale, the In-night Group has also attracted the custom of the vehicle manufacturer KIA Austria. The 44 KIA contracting partners in Austria are now being supplied directly from KIA's central warehouse in Bremen. In-night collects the consignments daily at 2.30 pm from Bremen and delivers them to the Upper-Austrian hub of In-night Austria. From here, the consignments are distributed throughout Austria using the Night Express Service. This logistics solution has enabled KIA Austria to dispense of its spare parts warehouses in Austria.

With its competitive prices and a highly efficient cross-border logistics network, In-night Austria plans to continue targeting the automotive sector in the future. Managing Director Peter Mayer expressed the company's objective, ‘In the medium term, we want to become market leader in this sector too'. In-night Austria has already provided services for customers in the automotive field, including Citroën/Peugeot, Cargo Holger and VWA van Wezel.
