The award of ISO9001:2000 for all 19 sites in the UK signals the final step in the integration of Taylor Barnard into TNT Network Logistics, says TNT Network Logistics Managing Director, David Bermingham.
"The ISO certification for the whole TNT Network Logistics business unit recognises that we have completed the standardisation of our systems, processes and controls, and confirms our position as one of the leading players in the quality shared-user logistics market."
Taylor Barnard was the UK's largest privately-owned logistics company, specialising in the FMCG and retail sectors, when it was acquired in 2000 by TPG, TNT Logistics' parent company. TNT Network Logistics, the multi-user division of TNT Logistics UK, was, and still is, market leader in the print, stationery and book markets, and its operations include the distribution of most of the country's newspapers through TNT Newsfast.
TNT Network Logistics now operates more than 800 vehicles, has over 3 million sq ft of warehousing and employs 2,700 people at its 19 sites spread throughout the UK.
TNT Logistics, one of the world's leading logistics companies, continuously strives for operational excellence and recognises the value of the ISO accreditations.
Mr Bermingham says: "By combining our strengths and skills, we have created the best shared-user network in the country, with the most sophisticated IT systems providing real-time visibility for our clients. The rapid growth of our business over the last year is proof of our success."
In the last few months, TNT Network Logistics was responsible for the successful distribution of hundreds of thousands of copies of both the David Beckham autobiography and the latest Harry Potter book under the highest security and tightest deadlines ever imposed on the book logistics market.
