Dairy Crest improves distribution with Autoflow units from TNT Container Logistics

22 March 2002 - 15:42 CET

Dairy Crest, the UK's leading producer of dairy products and ingredients, has hired containers from TNT Container Logistics to help improve storage and distribution processes at its production facilities in Gloucestershire and Hanworth in Middlesex.

The 1,000 and 500 litre Autoflow containers are being used for the distribution of Dairy Crest's industrial product range to various food manufacturing companies throughout the UK.

The Autoflow is a fully folding integral unit which can be erected and folded by one operative in less than one minute. The unit takes up minimal space during storage and in return transportation as up to six folded containers stack into one vehicle load space and filled containers can be stacked five units high. Because there is no need to remove panels, there is also no risk of losing parts during trips from Dairy Crest to the receivers.

The 500 Dairy Crest branded units are fitted with TNT Flexsol's three-layer sterile liquid liners which are discarded after use and replaced by new ones when the unit is next required. This eliminates the need to clean containers, making it a totally hygienic system as there is no risk of product contamination. The liners are simple to fit and remove, using the container's drop down panel which provides easy access.

The Autoflow has a spring-loaded baseboard to ensure maximum discharge of product and is also equipped with a sight glass to view the level of contents. The tamper-evident security feature protects the safety of the product, and alphanumeric coding enables easy tracking of the containers.
