CEVA presents new investments and strategies in Real EstateMilan, Italy, 9 June 2011 - CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has presented its strategy of real estate management at the conference Logistics Real Estate, which took place during the EIRE, Expo Italia Real Estate. Marco Galbusera, Facilities Management and Procurement Director of CEVA in Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, presented CEVA's approach to managing real estate in the logistics sector with a focus on eco-sustainable properties, as well as the company's expectations of the Real Estate industry and key players.
The conference, held on 8 June 2011 in Milan at Fiera Milano, was organized by World Capital's Borsino Immobiliare della Logistica, a leading analyst for the property market, Assologistica, the national association for logistics, and the leading trade magazine Euromerci with the aim of creating debate around logistics real estate topics.
"We were delighted to take part in this event again this year and share our perspective on the real estate management in the logistics sector," commented Galbusera. "For us, facility management is a highly strategic asset, and this is why we manage this in-house. The inclusion of advanced eco-sustainable devices has become an essential standard for our warehouses, and is a key part of our real estate strategy," added Galbusera.
CEVA has invested heavily in eco-friendly properties in Italy, creating 250,000 sq m of new buildings equipped with the most advanced eco-friendly devices. A further 90,000 sq m of existing facilities have been provided with photovoltaic systems which generate their own energy.
Galbusera continued: "At a national level, the main logistics real estate investments are made in Northern Italy, where there is a wide availability of both existing buildings and areas where it is possible to build tailored facilities in a short time according to the needs of each operator. I believe that the new buildings now fully meet the logistics industry's demands in terms of technical specification and performance.
"Today, the added value that can be offered to users of the buildings, like us, is to offer facilities already equipped with technological solutions that support optimal management and reduction of operating costs, such as personnel services, alarm systems with integrated CCTV and eco-friendly solutions for the active management of energy consumption."
The debate was attended by major logistics providers, who discussed issues related to infrastructure in Italy, the areas with greatest growth potential in the country, the logistics real estate scenario and the strategies of real estate management implemented by the different operators.
In the last two years CEVA has created 370,000 sq m of new eco-friendly buildings with annual total savings of 11 million kg of CO2 in its Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
