CULEMBORG, The Netherlands, April 9, 2008 - Innovative thinking and intensive collaboration proved the winning ingredients for CEVA Logistics, TNT Post and Sierra Nova. This week, the three companies were presented the LogiMatch Award 2008 for their jointly developed healthcare concept. Together they entered an important market with a new logistics solution, used since 1 January 2007, to order and deliver medicines in a safe and secure manner via the website nationale-apotheek.nl. The winners have demonstrated their pioneering role and put The Netherlands firmly on the map as a logistics hotspot.
The winners were selected from ten cases. The jury, headed by Ron van 't Schip, Executive Director of TLN - Transport & Logistiek Nederland, one of the leading sector organizations in Holland for the transport & logistics trade - described the winning case as a unique partnership project in Europe, highlighting the key role played by logistics improvements in reducing healthcare costs. The jury scored the case high on all criteria. Van 't Schip commented: "When it comes to innovation and added value, the Nationale Apotheek (National Pharmacy) is an exemplary project. Fresh, new aspects include housing an internet pharmacy in a warehouse, the secure dispatch method and the fact that it is a business-to-consumer solution." He also describes logistics as "medicine for a better healthcare sector, with the consumer also benefiting from lower costs. The winning partnership has proved that it is possible to save 4 million euros a year. The savings potential is huge."
Martin Gouda, Sector Manager Healthcare CEVA Logistics Benelux said that "this award is a tremendous reward for innovative logistics thinking. It certainly motivates us to keep up CEVA's leading efforts in developing sectors and products for our customers and beyond, in our pursuit for operational excellence. We thank our partners TNT and Sierra Nova for making this happen."
The annual LogiMatch Award is an initiative of Physical Distribution Group (PDG), the number-one representative body for logistics service providers in The Netherlands, and the trade journal Logistiek. The initiative aims to raise awareness of and open up new and innovative logistics concepts. The jury assessed the nominated cases on four criteria: innovation, focus on results, added value and potential for wide application. By presenting the Award, the organisers aim to demonstrate that transparent and creative logistics collaboration can produce valuable improvements in terms of cost reduction, improved delivery reliability, better provision of information and higher end customer satisfaction.
